Originally set up to provide help to Austria at the end of the war. With the big influx of migrants in the early 50s and 60s, it became quickly the club for the Austrians and Friends of Austria as a meeting place. Today the club is a busy thriving club on 6.5 acres of beautifully maintained parkland which caters for both, the older migrants as well as the younger, often Australian born generations Many of these will want to keep in touch with the rich historical and cultural heritage, stretching from the ice ages to the modern successor to a thousand year old empire.
Facilities at the club include a main hall. licensed bar and restaurant, a café and a shop stocked with Austrian and German goods. Sub groups are dedicated to “Stocksport (similar to curling) table tennis and air rifle, folk dancing and there is a Ladies Group. We support the Austrian Choir and Austrian Hour radio programs on 3ZZZ and Heidelberg Inner FM and the club is also the base for the local Rotary club and the Deer Hunters Association. |
|
Attractions include various musical concerts, major balls and dinner dances with a variety of floorshows, swing band dances, fundraising events, markets, Frühschoppen, festivals, and performances by overseas groups.
Our program is advertised through several radio programs (including SBS, 3ZZZ and Inner FM), as well as our own monthly Club Newsletter.
We cordially invite you to visit our club which reflects the friendly atmosphere for which our club is known.
Everyone’s welcome to our activities, please ask for a program. |
