The Club was established in 1970, by Austrian Immigrants, most of whom were tradesmen who had come to Australia in 1951 under a two year contract to erect prefabricated housing for the Austrian company  “Thermobau”.  After the contract was finished, many decided to stay in Australia, becoming actively involved in building a club in which to preserve the traditions of their homeland.

Through cash donations and the sale of life memberships, money  was raised to buy land, and after many hours of voluntary labour plus donations of building materials, the club house became a reality.

The Club was originally called  “Old Austria Club of W.A.” but was renamed in 2006 to

“Austria Club of W.A. Inc.”

The Club features an auditorium with seating for up to 400 people and an excellent authentic Austrian kitchen.

One Saturday each month, the club hosts a dance night

 showcasing the best in European music and entertainment,

with Austrian National Day (October 26)

being an annual highlight.
